I've been asleep: Queen's Wood 2011

The show title is 'Green Shoots'. 20 artists doing site specific and performance pieces in Queen's Wood, Highgate, North London. My piece is an 'oversized' piece again. I seem to be good at messing with scale and it tends to work quite well in lovely outside spaces like this ancient woodland. These are 9 plaster 'sleeping pills', 7 inches across in the old money. So it's about rebirth, it's about waking up, a return to consciousness. Or it's oversized sleeping pills with writing on, it's whatever you make of it! On for this weekend only, 10-11th September 2011. Thanks again to Tony & Judith at Rekindlepublicarts.org for having me along.

Sometime you just have to let (138 balloons) go

More balloon release pics courtesy of Sian. I'm aware I didn't really explain the reason for 138 balloons before. It's how old Ally Pally is and as this piece is all about letting go of the past that seemed appropriate!

Ally Pally 2011: 'Art free for all'

Thanks to everyone who helped me inflate and tag 138 balloons, especially Alice. No doubt Heathrow radar picked this up as the balloon release didn't go exactly according to plan! There was a gale blowing and a small vortex twisted everything up as I left the boathouse – giving them out individually was impossible. They seemed to be breaking up a bit as they gained height. Good luck to everyone who took a numbered balloon ticket. If your balloon makes it the furthest I'll treat you to tea, cake and half an hour on the boating lake. Can't say fairer than that can I? Watch this space. Props to Judith for the bottom image.
